AlphaFlo®

Flue Gas Desulfurization Pumps

You can turst our expertise, technology and support service to meeting your

slurry transport requirement as always.

AlphaFlo®  D series especially designed for flue and gas desulfurization application for power plant, absorbing tower circling with easy maintenace and high efficiency.

(Interchangeable with OEM Warman GSL Seires Slurry Pump)

Weir Warman GSL FGD Pump

Features:

  • Back pull out design – Minimum number of larger diameter fasteners allows all rotating and wearing components, including the mechanical seal, to be inspected without disturbing the suction or discharge pipework.
  • Lower corrosion in impellers – Specially formulated high chromium irons  combined with optimum impeller vane designs minimize wear in the pumps.
  • No corrosion in liners – Corrosion proof Natural rubber liners against acidic limestone&gypsum slurries, avoiding corrosion risks which can plague metal lined pumps, particularly when low pH slurries are left within the pumps when not operating.
  • Long bearing and mechanical seal life – A large diameter shaft and short impeller overhand minimizes shaft deflection providing excellent conditions for the mechanical seal. Fully protected oversized heavy duty oil lubricated roller and taper roller bearings carry all the radial and thrust loads with unusually high service factors.

Specifications:

  • Size range (discharge) 600 mm to 1000 mm
  • Capacities to 15 000 m3/hr
  • Heads to 35 m

  • HOW DOES A FGD (FLUE GAS DESULFURIZATION) PUMP WORK?

    • In a flue gas desulphurisation system (FGD), sulphur compounds are removed from the exhaust emissions of fossil-fuelled power stations. This is done by means of an industrial process through the addition of absorbents. This can remove up to 95 % of the sulphur dioxide from the flue gas, since the current threshold value for SO2 in the EU is 200 mg/Nm3 (Nm3 = normal cubic metre).
    • The wet process has become the main method of flue gas desulphurisation in large, fossil-fuelled power plants. In this method, the flue gases are steam-saturated with the absorbent in aqueous solution. Substances such as ammonia or sodium sulphite are used as absorbents; however the use of lime or limestone slurry (wet limestone scrubbing) is also widespread. The uncleaned flue gas is sprayed in a scrubber tower (absorber tower) with a mixture of water and limestone (scrubbing slurry), whereby most of the sulphur dioxide is bonded by chemical reaction.
    • After a number of chemical reactions, gypsum is finally produced in a suspension. After dewatering, this leaves gypsum with up to 10 % residual moisture, which provides a valuable product for the construction material industry.
    • The pumps used in the individual process stages are absorber circulating pumps (scrubber pumps, which - because of the high solids content and the aggressiveness of the fluid handled - are designed as non-clogging impeller pumps with special lining) and FGD auxiliary pumps (for lime and gypsum slurries in duplex materials).
  • WHAT'S THE PUMP LINER & IMPELLER MATERIAL STANDARD OF ALPHAFLO® D SERIES SLURRY PUMPS?

    • AlphaFlo® D series specially formulated high chromium irons (OEM material code A49)  combined with optimum impeller vane designs minimize wear in the pumps.
    • Corrosion proof Natural rubber liners (R55&S42) against acidic limestone&gypsum slurries, avoiding corrosion risks which can plague metal lined pumps, particularly when low pH slurries are left within the pumps when not operating.
    • Shaft sleeve made by corrosion resistant steel CD-4MCu (C26) and shaft by carbon steel (E05&E22).
  • IS IT CONVERTIBLE BETWEEN ALPHAFLO® D SERIES AND OEM WEIR WARMAN® GSL FGD PUMP?

The anser is YES.AlphaFlo® D series slurry parts compatible with the Warman GSL slurry pumps have been rigorously reverse engineered using  2D 3D modeling. First article inspection involves comparison to OEM parts followed by fit testing. All impellers have been performance tested to certify them against OEM performance.
